Hey, I’m David
I’ve been playing paintball since around 2010. What started as a random birthday party outing turned into a hobby that’s stuck with me for over 15 years now. I’ve played woodsball in the woods behind my buddy’s property, run drills on speedball fields, and spent entire weekends at scenario events where you forget what day it is. Paintball has a way of doing that to you.
I started Paintballer back in 2019 because I kept running into the same problem online. I’d search for gear recommendations and find articles that were clearly written by people who had never held a marker. Copy-paste spec sheets with a “Buy Now” button. That wasn’t helpful to me, and I figured it wasn’t helpful to anyone else either.
What I Bring to the Table
Over the years, I’ve owned and tested dozens of markers, from budget Tippmanns to high-end electronic guns. I’ve gone through more hoppers, tanks, masks, and pods than I can count. When I write about a piece of gear on this site, it’s because I’ve actually used it. I know what it feels like to lug a heavy setup through the woods all day, and I know the difference a good trigger response makes on a speedball field.
I’m based in the US, and most of the gear I review is stuff I’ve purchased myself or borrowed from friends at the field. Nobody is shipping me free markers in exchange for a glowing review.
How I Approach Reviews and Recommendations
This is the part I care about the most. Paintballer has no pay-for-play reviews. I don’t accept money from manufacturers to recommend their products. Period.
Yes, I use affiliate links. That’s how the site stays running. But I’ve left money on the table plenty of times by recommending a cheaper option over a pricier one, or by telling people to skip a product entirely. If something isn’t worth your money, I’ll say so, even if it means I earn nothing from that article.
Every gear roundup and review on this site comes from hands-on testing and real experience. I also talk to other players, read forum threads, and pay attention to what’s actually holding up after months of use, not just what looks good out of the box.
What You’ll Find on This Site
Paintballer covers gear reviews, buying guides, articles on game types and strategy, and a paintball field directory for finding places to play across the US. I try to write the kind of content I wish existed when I was starting out: straightforward, practical, and honest.
Since 2019, the site has helped thousands of players find the right gear and get more out of the sport. That’s the whole point. I’m not trying to build a media empire here. I just want to make it easier for people to get good information so they can spend less time researching and more time playing.
